I have been wanting to buy the "Pride and Prejudice" DVD set (the one made by BBC, in 1995) ever since I have known its existence. Still remember how much I have loved the character of Lizzy and Mr. Darcy, always enchanted by their intelligent exchange of conversations. Considering the fact that this is my second favorite book of all times (almost, I'm trying to put the Bible as the first! :P), and I have read the book so many times both in Chinese translation and the original English version, it's a wonder I haven't bought it (I was very close once, when I put it back on the shelf after a very long internal struggle)!!
Anyways, no longer could I resist the temptation as I found out it went on sale at Costco... SO FINALLY I'm a PROUD owner!!! :D (and yes I watched it almost right after I got it--originally I thought I would have grown out of this "little girl" admiring phase--but no!! Mr. Darcy is still sooooooooooooooooooo handsome and kind and nice....... I wish I were Lizzy! :P)
Now how do I persuade someone to watch this with me every year (or every month?? :P)

Out of shape
I cannot believe how undisciplined I have been in the past few months. And even more unbelievable is how quickly my body deteroriates (or expands, however way you want to put it) by my lack of discipline.
Because work has been a bit hectic these days, I have been consistently abandoning my gym routine. I always have the mentality that if I can't get out of the office by 5:30pm, I may as well just stay till 6:30pm and go straight home. Anyways, ever since I came back from NY (almost a month ago) I think I managed to go to the gym once.
On Saturday because it was a nice day W and I decided to go up the Grouse Grind. First time in this entire year to go on this stairmaster hike (yes I'm ashamed of myself). I have always liked the hike; I never remembered it to be a very difficult hike, but I have always got a good sweat cardio workout out of it. But the one thing I did not expect this time was how LONG it took me to get up there. It wasn't even the cardio part --as my heart wasn't beating that fast (I wasn't too out of breath). But I couldn't bring my left foot to go up a step to join my right foot, and vice versa. I had no idea that my body wasn't prepared for it!!
That--I admitted was a shock for me. We eventually made it up to the top, using probably 1/4 more time than usual. The scenary of the entire Vancouver did not disappoint us, but I certainly was quite annoyed by my being so out of shape. Worse than that, my chest pain stayed with me for the entire afternoon!
I know how a lot of "older" people recounted their stories of how fit they used to be, and how work and kids had made them sort of forget the importance of staying healthy and exercising. I really really need to be more careful that I don't follow that path!!
Mppmmmphhhhh! Still annoyed :(

Doors will open
I can't believe I haven't updated my blog for so long. Ever since I came back from NY, I have been doing a lot of catching up. Until now I still am not done. My room is still messy; I have work that I gave up on doing (because it's simply too late to do); my salsa is still very below average; the list of friends i'm supposed to email is just growing and growing; I haven't done my expenses for over a month (I'm almost giving up on myself). On top of everything, because of the potential takeover of my company by a US Pharma, I need to seriously start thinking about what to do next in my career.
So life is a little hectic at the moment. I always remember someone telling me to take life a little bite at a time. Now I admit it's a bit difficult to do. It seems like there are a lot of things that are interdependent on each other, and any decision I make will impact various aspects of my life.
To be honest, I do welcome the challenge. Partly excited, partly scared I suppose. My life has always been kinda smooth sail. I have always gone through opened doors... never had to make a really tough decision (well, I suppose my decision of not doing a Ph.D. was a somewhat difficult one but it was also not too difficult since I couldn't imagine myself doing the same research for that many years).
There are many people who talk about taking the road not tread or going through the narrow gate. I don't think there's a right or wrong in doing or not doing so. I do have faith that no matter what, my life is destined to be used for God's glory, and God will never let me down...
Funny I always recite Jeremiah 29:11 as an encouragement to others and myself:
yet I never continued with the next 3 verses:
May this be a reality in my life, always--especially when there is so much uncertainty ahead. Doors will open, if I am still, and listen, and obey.

and not to harm you, plans to give you hope and a future."

"Then you will call upon me and come and pray to me, and I will listen to you.
You will seek me and find me when you seek me with all your heart. I will
be found by you," declares the LORD, "and will bring you back from captivity..."
May this be a reality in my life, always--especially when there is so much uncertainty ahead. Doors will open, if I am still, and listen, and obey.
